Jaladhara | Rain Water Harvesting

Water is our most precious natural resource and something that most of us take for granted. We are now increasingly becoming aware of the importance of water to our survival. The rapidly expanding world population twinned with the effects of climate change are putting pressure on the world’s water resources. Utilizing the free supply of clean water that falls from the sky seems an obvious solution to this issue. The harvesting of rainwater simply involves the collection of water from surfaces on which rain falls, and subsequently storing this water for later use. Further due to extensive plastering of soil surface for roads and pavements, most of the rain water end up in roads and drains creating massive floods. The best solution is to recharge the ground water which will also provide the necessary relief during summer for both plants and animals. The energy cost required to transport water as well as for drawing water from deeper wells can be reduced considerably.
